Susi set up her independent HR consultancy in April 2022 following many years of senior management experience within the third sector. She is a HR and employment law specialist who enjoys getting her head around tricky problems involving discrimination, data protection, TUPE, or similar. She’s based in Edinburgh, but most of her work is done remotely with businesses across the UK.

The purpose behind Susi O’Brien HR is to support organisations in making confident, ethical, yet business-savvy decisions on HR-related matters. Wherever possible, Susi presents a range of options for leaders to consider when approaching an issue so that their eventual choice appropriately matches both context and personalities involved.

Typical activities undertaken include:
• Provision of customised employment contract templates, HR policies, and/or welcome guides
• Advice on employee relations issues, including disciplinary and grievance
• Training for managers on topics relating to HR and employment law
• Carrying out investigations
• Support with varied projects such as job evaluation, recruitment, or an audit of existing HR policies
