A veteran of the publishing industry\, she worked for 25 years with leading companies such as Chambers\, Oxford University Press and Macmillan (she was Director of Innovation Strategy at Palgrave Macmillan until she left to set up her pioneering new partnership publishing company in 2014). She is the ultimate professional\, delivering all that was asked and more\, and in a friendly\, enthusiastic\, knowledgeable manner. Additionally\, she led an in-person conversation on the day\, around the rise of non-fiction in both books and TV\, which was quality\, informed and perfectly delivered.’ – Orna O’Brien\, Conference Manager\, The London Book Fair \n‘Alison gave an entertaining and inspiring talk to my Women in Business West Kent group recently. Everyone in the room really engaged with her talk and we all came away highly enthusiastic about writing a book and knowing that it can really help to build our businesses. She gave us lots of tips on what we need to do before we start and how to use a book strategically so it is part of our business and not merely an adjunct. She brought several examples of the books she has published across a wide range of business topics. They were all very professionally printed and very impressive. \nIf you need a publisher or someone to speak about publishing then I highly recommend Alison.’ – Emma Cox\, Business Growth Consultant and Speaker.

SUMMARY:Psychometrics & personality tools - one size fits all or horses for courses? Facilitated discussion - HRi and Lucinda Carney
DESCRIPTION:Many of us favour certain tools but don’t truly understand the alternatives or how good they are. Often we use a tool because it is familiar or cheap to purchase but the reality is that there may be better tools for that purpose. We are delighted to offer a small group discussion on this topic\, facilitated by Chartered Psychologist Lucinda Carney where we will objectively explore different types of psychometrics along with their best fit. \nPlaces are limited therefore we will prioritise involvement from members who are already qualified in a specific instrument and would like to share and expand their knowledge. Participants who want to present on their preferred instrument will be invited to prepare a couple of slides to a standard brief that they can share during the session in 3-5 mins. The plan is to then assimilate the results into a summary webinar that will be made available to all members. Any member who takes part and offers this particular psychometric to others will have the opportunity to share their contact details for others who want to access their skills. If you would like to get involved\, please register your interest with Joe who will send you a ppt template that you can use to base your presentation on. \nPlease email Joe – joestokes@hrindependents.co.uk\, as soon as possible if you want to be included. Places limited so first come first served. We will need your slides by Friday 5th March 2021. \nAbout Lucinda Carney \nLucinda is a Chartered Psychologist with 20 years Corporate HR experience.
